Finally, after one month of torturous mugging, the dreaded CTs are over. Hm, that sounds wrong. Actually it is only one week of torturous mugging, and god knows where the rest of my june hols have flown. And yet, this break is doomed to be short-lived, what with the even more dreaded prelims looming but a few months away and people like Zhanming and our beloved Civics Tutor nagging about stupid electrochemistry tutorials and CT papers which can burn in hell for all I care. Nope, I didn't say that, it was my inner demon.

In spite of these gloomy premonitions, I must say that considerable effort have been put into de-stressing activities on my part, at least. Right after the conclusion of the physics CT paper, we were scheduled to go on a class learning journey to kusu island(guess who scheduled it), for which the aforementioned planner wickedly cajoled almost the entire class to go but didn't go himself, ironically. It was with resigned resignation that wentao and I desperately looked for outlets of entertainment while waiting for the hired bus to arrive, and found ourselves playing with wentao's magic cards which were rotting away in his locker, and after that basketball with a dusty non-round red and black "basketball"(if it still can be called that), which was rotting away in my locker.

3 hours, one bus ride, and one ferry/boat/raft/driftwood ride away, we found ourselves on a nice deserted island the size of perhaps two football fields. After the preliminary touring of the island, which had an interesting temple full of turtles and another interesting temple which was situated 170+(can't remember exactly) steps up on a hill, we found ourselves lounging on kusu island beach. Being an innovative bunch, we engaged in various entertaining activities such as wading into the shallows to find exotic marine debris(like seashells/crab shells/whatnot), walking on the precarious rock embankment which stretched about 10 metres into the shallows, neither of which I took part in(thankfully), or boring activities like lying on a canvas sheet(thoughtful planning on the part of the aforementioned planner), playing cards, and getting high on lollipops, chips, prawn crackers, raisins, nuts, melted chocolate frogs etc. After the chips and prawn crackers got demolished, though, many of us started to feel drowsy with the chips and prawn crackers being digested vigorously in our bellies. So, someone came up with the brilliant idea of playing captain's ball! (Yaming had thoughtfully brought his beach volleyball)

After an exciting and fun filled game with much comic relief(e.g. zhanming running after the ball(which bounced off a tree)and head-first into a tree, with the ball landing on his head subsequently), we watched the greatly-awaited sunset where the sun really looked liked a salted duck egg yolk hanging in the sky.

So finally, at 7.40pm, we took the ferry/boat/raft/driftwood back to the harbour. I managed to grab a precarious seat on the back of the ferry/boat/raft/driftwood, facing opposite the direction of travel, and it was with the cool sea breeze blowing through my hair and the company of classmates that I increasingly thought of the ferry/boat/raft/driftwood as less of a driftwood and more of a ferry, and that perhaps, just perhaps, this trip was not so bad scheduled after all...
